If a country is rich in mineral resources you would normally assume that they benefit from it…. Oil is a perfect example. It is considered to be black gold, too bad that there are mostly only very few who profit from it. Shell, one of the biggest petroleum companies in the world, is no exception – as long as there is nothing or nobody who stands between them and their interests…. if not… well, see for yourself. After all, a picture says more than a thousand words… so I decided to show you a video about what Shell was doing in Nigeria and the consequences….
That’s definitely not what we think about when we go to the gas station…. but I think it’s scary that you don’t even hear about it or did you know about this?? What do you think is the role of a company like Shell in a country like Nigeria?
I can totally recommend the movie “the age of stupid”, it was actually shown at our university! It’s shows something similar!!!
Very interesting posts and stories behind them. I think you chose a great topic as each of us should think about sustainability and responsibility, especially in our future business carreer!
I totally agree!!! your topic is really interesting..
often people simply don´t know what is really going on and I think it´s great that you write about it. there is so much injustice in our world and keeping silence about it doesn´t make it better.
I really like your blog!!
you’re getting good comments! it would be interesting to see more than one side of this issue of course. in so far as there is one. usually there is.
Yes I agree, there are often 2 sides. However, if I would describe each side objectively this blog would be called differently and the blog posts would be even longer than they already are
Besides, it was my goal to make people aware of what’s going on- give them a wake up call and of course also to get some critical responses! After all, everyone is allowed to have their own opinion. this is just mine.^^ and thinking about it is already the first step to improve the situation.
